This was a class I took in Summer 2011, At St. Pete College, Tarpon Campus. Linda Berghoff was my instructor. I really reconnected with the fine arts skills, that I had not really embraced since my High School days.

This was a summer 2011 Seminole Campus Class. Ragan A. Brown was the instructor. We covered the main components of the Adobe CS5 Suite. Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. I had traditionally used Cored Draw and Paint for most of my graphics tasks, but really fell in love with Adobe and appreciated its flexibility and depth.

Fall 2011 I took Web Design 1 from Delinda Keefe, The head of the Digital Arts Department. It was a great refresher for those html skills I have used for years, but a wonderful refinement of my CSS skills and exposure to new techniques and approaches.

There is much that I do to hone my skils and experemnt with techniques and programs. I explored powerpoint with one of my instructors, did many of the classes at Lynda.com and other tutorial sites, and am developing a character "Oswald" for several projects. This is where I play!

School DAZE!

Well I just finished my summer semester at St. Petersburg College. Managed to pull all A's, holding a 3.9 GPA (Missed that ONE A by 1.4% that is a bitter pill). I have several weeks off before I go back to school carrying 18 credit hours! OK, so, life - what life?

I am attending St. Petersburg College going for my DIG-AS Associate Degree in Digital Arts with a concentration in web design. The way I have my classes planned I will also have two certificates as well. Then the plan is USF - St. Pete for a BA in Graphic Design, It is one of the few Colleges in the area that offer that Degree.

  • CGS1172 - 2515 - E-Commerce Site Designer - Bross,Lawrence F.
  • CGS 1172 E-COMMERCE SITE DESIGNER I credits: 3 This course is designed to teach students the basic concepts of conducting business online and technological issues associated with constructing an electronic commerce (e-commerce) website. 47 contact hours.

  • DIG2000 - 4101 - Intro to Digital Media - Keefe,Delynda
  • DIG 2000 INTRODUCTION TO DIGITAL MEDIA credits: 3 This is a survey course designed to introduce the concepts of digital multimedia. Students will explore the path of contemporary digital design, highlighting the importance of process, innovation and communication. Students will be introduced to the history, principles and processes associated with digital media and designing for digital media, with emphasis on production. Students will be exposed to different areas of multimedia that include text, images, audio, video, various software programs, and animation. Students will have the opportunity to manipulate text, capture images, edit audio, create video, and design simple animations. Students will combine the components to design and develop several digital media presentations. 47 contact hours.

  • CGS2823 - 4338 - Adv Web Site Development - Osterhoudt, Maria C.
  • CGS 2823 ADVANCED WEB SITE DEVELOPMENT credits: 3 The student will demonstrate the ability to implement a Web site from beginning to post production. The student will create a new Web site plan, storyboard, and Web site design plan directed toward a final Web site implementation project. The student will apply sound graphic techniques including optimization and animation. The student will also create a Web site marketing plan, a site budget, and use tools for tracking, evaluating and maintaining a Web site. 47 contact hours.

  • CGS1821 - 4341 - Web Graphics Design I - Osterhoudt, Maria C.
  • CGS 1821 WEB GRAPHICS DESIGN I credits: 3 This course explores design considerations involved when using graphics on the web. Topics include industry standard programs, file formats, and platform/browser issues. Students will learn how to create and manipulate graphics. Participants will also learn how to create background tiles, graphical rules, bullets and buttons. Several different software programs are used throughout the course. 47 contact hours.

  • CGS1874 - 4342 - Introduction to Flash - Osterhoudt, Maria C.
  • GS 1831 WEB FOUNDATIONS/ESSENTIALS credits: 3 This course is designed to introduce an experienced computer user to the tools necessary to be an effective designer and/or developer for the World Wide Web, and is the foundation class for the Web Design and Developer Programs. The student will gain the skills necessary to develop and maintain complex Web sites, including a fundamental understanding of the protocols and vocabulary of web production in addition to client-server dynamics. Topics covered will include HTML, XHTML, interactive graphics, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and forms. 47 contact hours.
